Defensive Drivers Institute came incredibly close to our top spot, and for good reason. At $42.95, they offer the lowest price of any DMV-approved provider we tested, and the quality absolutely delivers. Here is my complete experience with their 5-hour pre-licensing course.
Registration & Getting Started
The sign-up process was straightforward. I entered my basic information, learner permit details, and payment. The $42.95 price was clearly displayed with no hidden fees or surprise charges at checkout. Within minutes, I had my account set up and was ready to begin the course. DDI does not offer a "start now, pay later" option like some competitors, but at this price point, that is a minor consideration.
